J. T. Smith – Tim Haile Debate Announcement

On the evenings of March 10, 11 (2005) there will be a discussion in Tulsa, OK between J. T. Smith and Tim Haile. The place for the debate will be the Woodland Hills church of Christ meeting house at 9119 E 61st Street, Tulsa, OK.

Propositions:

“The Bible teaches that if a man puts away his scriptural (faithful) wife for a reason other than fornication, and then commits fornication, the original wife may not remarry.” 

Affirm: J. T. Smith    Deny: Tim Haile

The Scriptures teach that whenever fornication is committed, the faithful spouse may put away his fornicator-mate and marry another.”

Affirm: Tim Haile      Deny: J. T. Smith

Then on the evenings of March 17, 18 (2005), at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center (WKU South Campus, 2355 Nashville Road), these same propositions will be discussed in Bowling Green, KY. The order will be reversed.

Propositions:

Rules

1. We will have 5 written questions to be presented 30 minutes before the discussion begins and answered in the first speech of both the affirmative and negative speaker.

2.  We may each have a moderator and/or timekeeper.

3.  There will be no audience participation. (no amen’s, boos, etc.)

4.  We will each have two thirty minute alternating speeches each evening. Each man may present his material in a manner as he sees fit.
